Bamburgh, Northumberland

A scenic detour on our journey south

We recently made a trip south to visit some friends and family. Our first stop en route was the majestic Bamburgh in Northumberland. The castle is easily one of the most impressive and dramatic of England's castles. The beach is also brilliantly vast and golden. The light on that day was so bright that I struggled to keep my eyes open with the glare from the sand. The grasses on the dunes looked like they were flowing in a current of the salty sea breeze. We walked around discussing plans to revisit, hopefully with more time to spare.
