Just outside of Edinburgh, there's a National Trust for Scotland garden - Malleny Garden - which we visited for the first time recently. Surrounded by trees, the only clues to its suburban location were the occasional sounds of passing traffic or the shouts from a sports field nearby. The house next to the garden is not open to the public, but there's also a very short walk through woodland nearby. It was nice to sit for a while on one of the garden benches enjoying the sights and sounds.
