It seems like cold, dark and wet have been the predominant weather themes of the past 2-3 months in this part of Scotland. I keep an eye on the forecasts and plan to go out any time I have a day off and the weather looks decent. Today I took a family member out to a part of East Lothian neither of us had explored before. It didn't disappoint. The low winter sun treated us to a golden afternoon which made all the colours in the landscape glow. There were so many berries on the bushes and a lot of birds making the most of them. The walk culminated in a climb over a high dune onto a wide, sandy beach. I think I'll be back here another day.
