Walking by the Water of Leith

A walk along the Water of Leith walkway, and union canal, from Balerno to Murrayfield, via the Colinton tunnel and Saughton Park. We hopped on a tram at Murrayfield because I'd pulled a muscle and it wasn't getting any better (I think this might be the first time I've had to cut a walk short due to a physical ailment - I'm sure I was 25 and running around just a minute ago).

These are a few of the things that caught my eye along the way. I was especially intrigued by the crumbling old telegraph poles, surrounded by trees with no obvious signs of their past lives.

The walkway passes through Colinton tunnel, filled with impressive murals made by a team of artists led by Chris Rutterford. Once you follow the river further into the city, it feels slightly less peaceful and green and a little more rough around the edges, so I put my camera away.
