I've been a bit down about autumn recently but when the sun shines, it's not so bad at all. I took my Canon M6 II out with a 7artisans 35mm f/1.4 manual focus lens, around my local area via the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh - a favourite place to visit at any time of the year. The fixed focal length and lack of quick focusing with this lens feels more like using a 35mm film camera by today's standards. It's a great choice for a day like this when you can wander slowly, the light is good and the colours in the landscape have taken on such a warm autumnal glow.
I don't have much more to say about these pictures. The photos I take on walks like this are often relatively meaningless. They're just things that caught my eye along the way. It's a process that helps my mood and wellbeing, and I enjoy working with the images when I'm home later as well. In a way, photography makes my walks more purposeful. I pay attention to my surroundings more, I go more slowly, I stop to look at things when I'd normally just keep on moving. It's not just about getting to where I'm going. It's always a fun and rewarding challenge to see and capture the world photographically.
