Photographing the collections at the David Livingstone Birthplace Museum for Art UK
A selection of images of collection items at the David Livingstone Birthplace Museum in South Lanarkshire. I was commissioned to photograph these items for the Art UK website, where they have recently been published in a blog post and in the online catalogue. It was great to have a photography commission working with museum collections again as things have been a bit quiet since moving to Edinburgh just as COVID hit.
Many of these photographs benefitted from the use of focus stacking to achieve the maximum possible depth of field, rendering more of the detail on each item in sharp focus.
From top-to-bottom, with links to their pages on the Art UK website:
- Ancestor Twin Votives (one of a pair)
- Diviner's Pouch- Beaded Gourd
- Ceremonial Axe with Carved Animal Head
- Umbumbuluzo (or war) Shield
- Ceremonial Paddle
Big thanks to Art UK and the David Livingstone Birthplace Museum for this commission!
