Inveresk Lodge Garden

Springtime at this beautiful National Trust for Scotland garden near Musselburgh

Soaking up the sun at Inveresk Lodge Garden, near Musselburgh (just outside of Edinburgh), a few weeks ago. We'd had a few sunny days in early May but this was the first we both had the time to go out and enjoy. It felt like spring had properly arrived.

The garden is managed by the National Trust for Scotland. It's a beautiful location. There are parts of the garden which tend toward more formal planting, beds, trees, a greenhouse and so on. And then there's another part which is more like a small nature reserve, with a large pond, a meadow and a woodland area. In the woods, there are homes for fairies.

There are ample seating options all around the garden, so you're never far away from a place to sit and enjoy the views, the sounds of birds singing and leaves rustling, and if you're lucky, the sunshine. I'd fully recommend a visit. Inveresk village is also very nice.
