A few weeks ago we walked from East Linton to Dunbar, East Lothian. It was the final leg of a walk my partner Ali has been doing since January along the John Muir Way, raising a total of £1,185 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The John Muir Way stretches 134 miles from Helensburgh in the west to Dunbar in the east.
The walk from East Linton to Dunbar is quite easy to reach from Edinburgh by public transport (there are train stations at both ends). After leaving East Linton village, it runs along field edges and riversides before meeting an estuary at the John Muir Country Park, where we stopped for coffee and biscuits while watching the birds. You then reach Belhaven and Dunbar with some nice views over the Firth of Forth. As we were joined by a group of friends, we stopped for a Sunday lunch at the Brig and Barrel in Belhaven, which I'd happily recommend.
Most of the paths along the John Muir Way have been well-trodden and well signposted so there has been nothing overly challenging, although one or two of the sections were a bit lengthy. This was a nice gentle walk to finish with. I took a roll of HP5+ 35mm film in my Pentax ME Super, and these are a few of my favourites.
