I photographed an osprey landing a catch over a pond in the Trossachs in July last year. It was the result of an experiment with using a longer shutter speed to capture a sense of the bird's movement as it lifted away from the water carrying a fish in its talons.

There were only a few brief moments that day in which to attempt to photograph the osprey; for most of the evening it watched over us from a nearby treetop. I left with some sharper images of the bird frozen in time mid-flight, but this semi-abstract image became my favourite of the day.

My artwork in this exhibition is an A2 giclée photographic print on Hahnemühle Bamboo paper, edition of 15, framed in a black wooden frame with a black core window mount.

I've often missed opportunities to properly photograph my work in past exhibitions, so this time I took a camera with me and captured these images. My osprey print is surrounded by other monochrome abstract and semi-abstract works with nature themes.

There is a highly eclectic range of artworks on show in this exhibition, so whatever your taste in art, you are likely to find things here that you like, things that inspire you, as well as things that challenge you or offer new ways of thinking about the world.

Big thanks to the SSA team for organising this show and selecting my work! Thanks also to my other half for the photo below of me with my print at the opening...
